
The new TrekLight line from Mountainsmith holds two new backpacks, the Eclipse 55(left) and the Solstice 45(right), both with pivoting hip belt. The Solstice has been designed for women with both shoulder straps and waist belt shaped to fit a women body. Both packs are prepared for hydration systems and both has top compression straps for climbing ropes.

Primero is a new backpack from The North Face that will be available 2008. There will be three variants, a 60L, a 70L and a women 65L. The 70L variant will weigh 2270 grams in medium size. The backpack has been design to carry weights up to 25 kg.

The new backpack will feature a injection molded EVA back-panel, that’s actually the same material all those Crocs “shoes” are made out of. There is also a new frame system, but if I try to explained it, I’ll probably just mess it up, check out the video below instead.

The 2008 version of Gregory’s Whitney backpack has a new suspension system called Response Custom Fit Suspension (CFS). The new pack is lighter than the current version, unclean of how much though. It has new thermo-molded back panels and a new ratchet system that quickly and easily adjusts the pack’s hip angle to fit its wearer. The fabric is 210 Double Diamond RipStop.

Lafuma has gone for a “girlie” look on their new Naïa backpack for female, I think it looks good but I don’t think you will see me with one. Appart from the unusual look for a hiking backpack it has a new type of opening, it opens as trunk. The backpack will weigh 5 lbs 7 oz and hold 50 liters.

The new daypack from Fjällräven is called C2C (Cabin to Cabin) and comes in three different sizes 30, 40 and 50 liters. As the name suggests, it’s a backpack for those who does not want to carry a tent, but sleeps in huts/cabins. The backpack has a built in water system and an integrated raincover.

French backpack maker Lafuma has presented a new backpack, the Xlight40+5, available for the summer 2008. The backpack is a light weight trekking pack weighing 2 lbs 15 oz (1332 grams) in medium and 3 lbs 1 oz (1389 grams) in large. The pack has will have a volume of 2440 + 300 cu in (40+5 liters).
Inside the pack there is a dual compartment with a removable separator, there is also a number of pockets: zippered, waterproof camera carrying pocket, with a zippered mesh pocket for documents, outside front pockets, zippered stretch side pockets, two-way open mesh side pockets and zippered mesh pocket on the waist belt.

The Speed 40 backpack from Black Diamond is an general-purpose alpinist backpack. It is equipped with a hydration system and weighs 1.1 kg and has a 40 liter volume.
