German Blogger Lighthiker has made a really nice looking DIY solar-charger. He used it to charge a GPS-logger and his phone on his Via Alpina hike. Great Work!

The Lobster has actually very little to do with shellfish, it’s a mediaplayer prototype by Danillo Mangini. It has several attachable accessories in modules, GPS, mp3 player, hard-disk, camera and cardiometer, all designed so that you can customize the device according to you needs.

I don’t think this is actually suited for outdoor use, but you are sure to loose it if you drop it. It’s a 1GB mp3/wma player with 85 hours of play time on a single AAA battery.

The player can be used as a music player (mp3), video player (wmv, avi, mpeg etc supported via conversion utility), photo viewer (jpeg, bmp, gif) and it also features a stereo FM radio.

The media player can also be used as a power source for for cell-phone.
